Trump, Kennedy, Perfectionism and Bugs Bunny
Linguistic flops and cyclonic government misadventures
[Note from TriTorch: Eric is back in another guest post. Enjoy!]
I stand 100% guilty of waffling on another Trump presidency.
Afterall, how can I - in good conscience - stand behind a President that fully sanctioned and then became the staunchest supporter of “Operation Warp Speed?”….perhaps the hastiest, stupidest, thoughtless, boneheaded, dumbass, reckless and catastrophic subterfuge to ever be broadcast into the public zeitgeist?? Shall we go down that road? Shall we unpack the resultant staggering carnage of this myopic authorization of “safe and effective?” Shall I insult your intelligence? No, not this audience.
So, now what?
I’ve often said that politics - especially as it pertains to multinational affairs - is immensely convoluted, complicated, confusing, and oftentimes counterintuitive - if not flat out torturous in its construct. There are countless moving parts, none of them working in concert with the other….thus the ongoing maelstrom of discontinuity.
Let’s set our Way Back Machines to March 11, 1888. (Trust me, this is positively brimming with observational awareness.)
Seven years after his presidency Rutherford B. Hayes entered the following passage in his diary:
“The real difficulty is with the vast wealth and power in the hands of the few and the unscrupulous who represent or control capital. Hundreds of laws of Congress and the state legislatures are in the interest of these men and against the interests of workingmen. These need to be exposed and repealed. All laws on corporations, on taxation, on trusts, wills, descent, and the like, need examination and extensive change. This is a government of the people, by the people, and for the people no longer. It is a government of corporations, by corporations, and for corporations. — How is this?”
In short: This is the jarring recognition of “predatory capitalism” in its fledgling stages. Not that cronyism and corruption didn’t have influence in the past, but the “Gilded Age” of politics ushered in a new era of augmented rottenness and deprivation than the U.S. had been subject to in the past. Check out the likes of Boss Tweed and Tammany Hall as a precursor into the subject.
Now, let’s reverse set our Way Back Machines to January 17, 1961. I’m sure most of you are familiar with this, but given the times and the accuracy of the warning/prophecy? it doesn’t have an expiration date:
So, the aforementioned “maelstrom of discontinuity” has burgeoned into a perpetual cyclonic misadventure of uncontainable proportions. Now, we’ve got corporate interests AND military interests inserting their predatory butts into politics, threatening or buying off every legislator they can get their greasy mitts on. To that end, don’t forget to tack on the influence of the wealthiest families on the planet in addition to a myriad of institutions and organizations who enthusiastically flick the bird in the face of congressional scrutiny. The very notion that politicians are running anything but to the bank is the height of naivety. Predatory Capitalism is just a shadow of what is now called “The Death Economy” (our current state) summarized below:
Key Characteristics of the Death Economy
• Its goal is to maximize short-term profits for a relative few.
• It uses fear and debt to gain market share and political control.
• It promotes the idea that for someone to win, another must lose.
• It is predatory, encouraging businesses to prey on each other, people, and the environment.
• It destroys resources needed for its own long-term survival.
• It values goods and services that are “extractive” and materialistic above those that enhance quality of life (e.g., child-rearing, the arts).
• It is heavily influenced by nonproductive financial deals (stock manipulation, financialization, “gambling”).
• It ignores externalities, such as environmental destruction and exploitation of workers, when measuring profits, GDP, and other metrics.
• It invests heavily in militarization—in killing, or threatening to kill, people and other life forms and destroying infrastructure.
• It causes pollution, environmental collapse, and drastic income and social inequality and may lead to political instability.
• It vilifies taxes, rather than defining them as investments (in social services, infrastructure, the military, etc.).
• It is undemocratic, encouraging the growth of large corporations controlled by a few individuals whose money has a strong influence on politics (monopolies that lead to oligarchies).
• It is based on top-down, authoritarian chains of command that support autocratic management styles in business and government.
• It places higher values on nonproductive jobs (venture capitalists, investment bankers) than productive ones (laborers, factory workers) and those that enrich life (teachers, musicians, artists).
• It keeps billions of people in poverty.
• It classifies plants, animals, and the entire natural world as depletable resources; fails to respect and protect nature; and causes massive extinctions and other irreversible problems.
• It has become the predominant advocate of what it calls “capitalism” around the world.
Let’s talk Trump, Vance and Kennedy. As I stated at the beginning I have waffled back and forth on Trump (at least during that nanosecond when Kennedy was a viable option) or even voting at all because I was of the mindset that it’s not going to make any difference anyway. “The Powers That Be” are in control of….well, just about everything….media, voting machines, subsidized drug cartels, gas prices, interest rates, monetary enslavement system, wars, racial division, human perceptions, mass hysteria, The Bachelorette, brussel sprouts, etc… I also considered writing in Bugs Bunny just for the hell of it. If I’m going down, I’m going down with a sense of humor amidst a hail of gunfire while belting out an a capella rendition of War Pigs.
There’s an aphorism, frequently attributed to Voltaire that says: “Perfect is the enemy of good” OR “Best is the enemy of good.” There’s another of Chinese provenance that states: “Better a diamond with a flaw than a pebble without one.”
Here’s the deal: I KNOW UNEQUIVOCALLY WHAT I’M GOING TO GET IF CAMELFACE AND TIMMY TAMPON SLITHER INTO THE OUT HOUSE.
Here’s just a sample:
What a dandy way to “live your best life now.”
Will Trump be any different? Maybe….maybe not. He’s not perfect, and for whatever reason he completely botched Covid and “vaccines.” (Threats? Coercion? Duped? Misplaced trust? Pride??? I have no idea). Kennedy may, or may not keep the CDC, FDA and pharmaceutical mafia in check….perhaps even have a hand in prosecuting the roach Fauci?? Who knows? I know some people don’t like his stance on Gaza and the Middle East. Vance has been associated with people and/or groups that raise some concerns. I GET IT. I GET ALL OF IT.
I KNOW FOR CERTAIN what the alternative is. There is no guesswork. This is their announced program, pure and simple…an authoritarian, totalitarian hellhole where having the audacity to step out onto your own front porch will be met with a hail of rubber bullets. How long before a group of government sanctioned thugs snatch you off your lounge chair and drag you down to the inviting J6 facilities for an exploratory underground tete a tete? Think it can’t happen here? We’re not in Kansas anymore, kiddos….and Mayberry is a far off distant speck in the rear view mirror. The romanticized Jr. High School version of America is deader than Paul Revere’s horse.
We are on the brink of deteriorating into a Mad Max/Planet of the Apes society. A vote for Trump at least gives me/us a shot at a more promising reality. A “no” vote or a vote for Bugs Bunny (as tempting as it is) is a vote for the proliferation of imbecilic softheaded screwballs, widespread insanity and the murder of completely innocent sentences.
What about the sentences?! For the love of God, THINK ABOUT THE SENTENCES!!
No vote will be turned into a Harris vote via Dominion. Writing in Bugs at least doesn’t allow them to steal your unused vote. Vote. And if you want a chance to get out of this mess, vote Trump.
I always enjoy your writings – thank you!
I’m a Brit – we have our own problems with non-inspirational but captured entities masquerading as leaders. I offer a different view – I’ve no idea how valid it is but at least it’s optimistic.
