I am sentimentally attached to items I associate with significant emotional events in my life. They are precious to me for what they represent and the feelings they rekindle in me, transporting me through time with sweet nostalgia.
IMO... the issue here is to assume we are accountable for is our joy and the joy of others? What if we were created? Did we just evolve? Should we not be grateful to a creator but simply give and recieve joy? This leaves me wondering...since the world left a benevolent creator in the past? It seems to me this goes hand in hand with the world falling apart. I say. All praise and love goes to Jesus Christ. All joy flows from there. IMO
For 1) The Egypt comparison to joy is just an interpretation of an ago old belief system that no one alive there to witness and which probably leaves out a lot of nuance.
For 2) The commandment to do unto others as you would have them do unto you - which is very similar to the ‘joy’ interpretation - appears to be at the heart of every major religion:
Christianity: In everything, do to others as you would have them to to you; for this is the law and the prophets. (Jesus, Matt: 7:12)
Sikhism: I am a stranger to no one; and no one is a stranger to me. Indeed, I am a friend to all. (Guru Granth Sahib, p. 1299)
Islam: Not One of you truly believes until you wish for others what you wish for your self. (Mohammad, Hadith)
Zorastrianism: Do not do unto others whatever is injurious to yourself. (Shayast-na-Sayast 13.29)
Hinduism: This is the sum of duty: do not do to others what would case pain if done to you (Mahabharata 5:1517)
Buddhism: Treat not others in ways that you yourself would find hurtful. (Udana-Varga 5:18)
Judaism: What is hateful to you, do not do to your neighbor. This is the whole of the Torah; all the rest is commentary. (Hillel, Talmud, Shabbat 31a)
Jainism: One should treat all creatures in the world as one would like to be treated. (Mahavira, Sutrakritanga)
Taoism: Regard your neighbour’s gain as your own gain, and your neighbor’s loss as your own loss. (T’ai Shang Kan Ying P’ien 213-218)
YES, love hope and charity. the most important? Charity. Just making sure I assert who i believe in the biggest act of love, was crucified and suffered for us SHEEP.
In an everyday, mundane way, I find, that people that take a shopping cart, from the lot, back to the store, whether it is theirs, or not, to be the kind of people I want around me.
Walk softly (don't leave YOUR impression) but always, carry a big stick (just in case).
It reminds me of something my dad said a long time ago.
Do it as you go by.
A long as you are moving "that way", pick up the trash, put a tool back where it belongs, just do something, while you go by.
In other words, leave that space a little bit better, for someone else.
That activity also is efficient. If you have to come back to do, or finish a job, that takes twice as much effort.
Your article touched my Soul/Spirit - thank you for passing on your Light ...

Basically, I am you and you are me and we are all tiny droplets that form a mighty ocean - that we are the heart of God.

Thank you so much! Very comforting in this cold, unhappy world.
