As to measles - when I was very young I had both the so-called 3 day measles and the two week measles. The one was mild, but the other was extremely bad; I had a very high fever, and auditory and sensory hallucinations, and my parents were very concerned that they may lose me.
I had what was possibly called rubella (German measles) in 1975. I had had a BCG vaccine earlier that spring. I was very ill for 2 weeks and temperature of at least 104F. Took all the summer to recover my strength. I suspect the vaccine now.

Just a thought, that Brady Bunch episode was probably written to push the contagion theory. Everyone in the household caught measles, even the parents and Alice!
